With reference to my Despatch No. 204 of
the 17th. ultimo regarding the Sterling Salaries Scheme, I
have the honour to transmit for your consideration the enclosed
copies of revised notes relating thereto and to request you
to be so good as to inform me whether they meet with your ap-
proval as they stand or whether in your opinion they require
addition or amendment.
2.
I venture to draw your attention more
particularly to note No. 16, the first part of which embodies
a ruling given by myself recently in a case for which there
was no guiding precedent.
3.
I take this opportunity to inform you
with reference to the concluding paragraph of Sir William
Gascoigne's Despatch No. 398 of the 4th. of September last,
that the times within which Officers in the Colony and on
leave of absence were to be allowed to elect to come under
the Sterling Salaries Scheme approved in your Despatch No. 171
oo of the 13th. of June last, have now expired and I transmit
herewith a list showing which of those Officers have elected Und
